Q & A

  1. Is therapy right for me?  Excellent question! Therapy is a personal choice in times of life stresses, emotional issues, and relationship issues. Sometimes, making a phone call to speak to a therapist is the most difficult, yet the huge first step of healing. Therapist can assist you with developing deeper insight to your underlying issues, strategize individualized solutions based on your needs, circumstances, and context of your life. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in expanding their quality of life.
  2. What should I expect in therapy? The goals of therapy are tailored to your needs and presenting issues. It is standard to discuss your primary issues and concerns in your life during therapy session. This may include topics that you haven’t dealt with for years. However, therapist will not force you to touch any issues you may not feel comfortable to discuss: therefore, it is my primary goal to create safe and secure therapeutic relationship with my client in order to work effectively and creatively to meet my clients’ needs. Through attentive and respectful relationship, I will assist you with deepening insights, developing coping skills, and creating harmonious relationship with yourself, others and Higher Power. Depend on issues and client’s goals, I may assign you homework, reading materials, and other therapeutic activities. It is also your responsibility to fully commit to the therapy. In short, you also need to be an active participant in this process.
  3.  What should I ask insurance company?   Before you come to your first appointment, please ask these questions to your insurance company representative: Do I have mental health insurance benefits? What is my deductible and has it been met? How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  4. What are your hours? My hours change, but generally, from 9am to 6pm on weekdays. 1st and 3rd Saturdays are from 9am to 12pm. Please contact me. Groups and workshop hours are various depends on client’s request, however, it is usually done during the weekend.
  5. Tell me about Reduced Fee and pro bono services. I understand life can be challenging and demanding at times. I also believe that giving back to the community is my another responsibility as a Christian, professional, and person. Based on your current financial situation, I can lower session cost to an agreed upon fee. On other cases, you may not be able to afford to pay at all, but could experience a life event that require counseling services. This pro bono service is usually limited to 8 sessions to work on specific goals so that other clients benefit from it as well.
